Half of my great room. More pictures to come this week. While my husband is in Africa, I have made it my goal to attempt to accomplish every single project I have hanging out in no where land in my home. This window project was one of those things! I still feel like I need more on this wall, but haven't figured it out yet. Darn, another reason to shop and scroll through Pinterest. Also...did you hear I am opening my own retail store!? Follow my Facebook page for my new store to watch the story unfold! https://www.facebook.com/MamasHappySpace

My 33rd Birthday: The Food
This cake was the stepping off point for the inspiration behind the food at my party. I found it on Pinterest, but I am giving you the link directly to the website which it is based from....because I think credit should be given where it is due!
So my baker, Yumi's Bakery, created a very similar cake. Only they topped it with the lavender roses...and I finished it off my surrounding the base of the cake with the roses as well. Also in this picture you see red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (my favorite), chicken salad sandwiches, meat and cheese platter, veggie platter, freshly made pico de gallo and guacamole, and chips.
On the other side of the island was the chocolate. It was suppose to be a chocolate fountain, but the heater never heated, so we threw the chocolate into a crock pot. Still tasted good! We had salted nut rolls, strawberries, rice krispy treats, pineapple, & bananas for dipping into the chocolate.
Don't these strawberries look so fresh and yummy!
The inside of the cake! I later heard that one of the guest was just certain that this cake was grape flavored! Nope...it was just white cake with regular frosting inbetween the layers and fondant on the outside. The cake did lean a bit...but still turned out great! I have made these stacked cakes many times before (never with fondant) but one of the most important things is to freeze it every couple of layers..for a couple of hours before adding your new layers. Otherwise you will get a leaning cake.
These were mini quiches! They were my favorite right behind the cupcakes!
In all...the foods were easy to handle, finger foods. The only thing the forks were required for were for the cake. I wanted to create an environment where people mixed and mingled. I pulled all the chairs away from my tables and island and placed them throughout the house. I think all of these foods worked great for this atmosphere!
My next post will be about the party drinks!

Vintage Chairs Getting New Life
I recently purchased these 2 vintage wing back chairs. The fabric is pretty neat as is...well that is if it wasn't tattered, torn, and completely not matching the rest of my house.
I love the shape of these chairs!
So I am back to the great fabric hunt. I plan to put these 2 chairs on either side of our great room fireplace. In this room we have Sherwin Williams Pewter Cast on the walls (dark Grey), dark brown leather furniture, turquoise, mustard yellow, dark charcoal, and silver accents. In an extremely funky world...I would choose some ultra smokin hot pink fabric. But lets remember that I am queen of the house of BOYS! I don't think they would be embraced well in my home. And it is also quite the investment. Even though I paid $25 for the pair...I will need 10-1/2 yards of fabric...and fabric could be $10/yard on up! Not to mention what I will pay to the upholsterer to have them professionally done. Yes, I know...I could probably go to the store and buy 2 chairs for less than I will have into this project. But the end result wouldn't be nearly as satisfying! I purchased this chair...
And when I got it, the print was an 80's pink & blue flowers print. This sits next to my dining room fireplace. So I don't want to choose solid grey again.
Here are a few fabrics I have found when searching http://www.fabric.com/
Can you tell which 2 I am leaning towards? One of these fabrics is $27.98 per yard! Ouch!
Also, keep in mind that the room these chairs will go in, already has bold prints on the wall. Remember the fabric canvas art I created?
Here is the fireplace they are going on either side of.
Thanks for your input! I love chatting with you ladies about design! I have also started a Facebook page called: Janelle's Inspiration Finds
There is some discussion already started on there about this project.

Inspiration Found, Direction Needed
I have an inspiration in mind, but I could use a little help with the direction. In the new house I have this HUGE long wall in our 600 square feet great room. Here is the wall:
Ok, so that is the wall. We have dark brown leather furniture.
And this gaggle of pillows I purchased from Pier 1 Imports. I am in love with turquoise. I am thinking this:
Taking 3 large canvas' or 3 large frames...and displaying fabric in them as art. I LOVE fabric! And there are so many beautiful ones to choose from anymore! The trouble is...which fabrics to choose. The whole room is painted Pewter Cast grey. I need your help. What do you think? Do I choose 3 different fabrics? Or 2 fabrics and stagger them?? Which 3 fabrics catch your eye. They ALL catch my eyes!!! Which is the problem...I just can't decide. Ultimately, I will go with what I want, but I love to hear others input. I am going to number each fabric...and in the comments if you could reference the fabrics by their number...that would really help!
